EMC HomeBase Agent
EMC HomeBase Agent is a small, lightweight agent that is loaded on each server you wish to monitor for change and whose application and storage configuration you may want to
automatically migrate or recover to dissimilar hardware at some point in the future.
The Server Agent runs on a scheduled basis (normally just prior to
a backup or replication of the data set) and runs in a low priority mode so as not to impede any application performance.
The
Server Agent captures all elements of the server stack from internal and peripheral hardware, through OS settings, to application and storage configuration settings creating a very small, encrypted profile of that server.
These secure, lightweight profiles are automatically transmitted via a user selected protocol to the HomeBase Server where they are stored for the duration of the user defined retention policy. HomeBase Server Agents are centrally managed for the HomeBase Server Software and do NOT require a reboot
during installation.
EMC HomeBase Discovery Agent
EMC HomeBase Discovery Agent operates in the same way as the HomeBase Recovery Agent except it is deployed to servers you only wish to monitor for change notification and reporting purposes. HomeBase Discovery Agents are centrally managed for the HomeBase Server Software.
EMC HomeBase Server
EMC HomeBase Server provides centralized control for all change notification, server migration, recovery, and reporting capabilities. The web-based interface allows you to access and control your complete HomeBase environment from any location.
EMC HomeBase Server acts as a central repository for all recovery and discovery agent profiles. Each time a new profile is received from any agent the Differential Factoring Engine compares the new profile to the previous profile from the same server and will automatically notify all stakeholders if any configuration element is out of conformance with corporate and compliance standards.
During migration and recovery events the Differential Factoring Engine automatically differentiates between the source and target server’s, hardware, OS, application settings and dependencies, and storage structures at a very detailed level then automatically configures the target server and storage to the desired characteristics regardless of hardware differentiation.
